M + B Engagement at Texas Old Town

I first met M about two years ago through work. Although I did not meet B until the day of their session, I felt like I knew him based on all the stories M had told me. The couple had never had professional photos taken together, and B was not a fan of cameras. I made it my mission to get them the PERFECT photo for their wedding invitations.

In early November M + B booked with me for their October 2022 wedding. As part of their wedding package, they were given the choice of having a complimentary engagement, bridal, or boudoir session. They chose an engagement session, and got permission from their wedding venue to have their session take place there. Nestled off the beaten path in Kyle Texas is this beautiful multi-acre venue called Texas Old Town. The venue is divided into four different smaller venues, each with their own theme, ceremony, and reception space. We chose to utilize two of these spaces, one being the space they had reserved for their session, and the other being a space that had a tiny waterfall.

The evening before their session I got a crazy idea: what if we did a champagne pop. I had never done a champagne pop before, and if I’m being honest, I don’t even know where to buy champagne because I don’t drink it. But the couple was all for the idea!

When we arrived at the venue we quickly got to work. We found a pond with a bridge over the top and decided to start there. During this time, I had to climb over some rocks in the water to get the perfect shot. That was when I discovered there were not only frogs in the water, but snakes as well! After a NOPE on my part, we moved on to our next location.

We moved on to more bridges, more posing, blah blah blah photoshoot stuff. During this entire time my couple started to loosen up, and didn’t feel as nervous as they did before. Eventually it became time for the champagne pop. My couple had purchased two bottles of champagne, and boy am I glad they did. Before I could even get my camera settings ready B had opened the first bottle and shot all the champagne into the grass around us. Our next pop would be much more successful. This time M was given the bottle, and B was instructed not to touch it until we were ready. The result were these beautiful photos below.

M + B were so much fun to work with, and their venue choice is beautiful. I cannot wait to shoot their wedding next year!
